Meghan Insists On Using Her Royal Title When Talking About American Politics & Some People Aren’t Having It

When Meghan Markle’s presence at a virtual event was announced by referring to her as, “Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex,” it was quickly pointed out that such a moniker is all kinds of wrong for many reasons, for many people. I would suggest instead the title Meghan Thee Stallion but that one’s been taken.

The announcement stated that Meghan is teaming with Michelle Obama’s voter registration group and will take part in the Virtual Voter Registration #CouchParty.

Should Meghan Markle be using her royal title after she threw it back in the face of the people who gave it to her?

It is the title that has caused a ripple among royal fans, who noted that members of the Royal Family abstain from speaking about politics in order to remain as neutral as possible.

The Twitterverse was awash in opinions ranging from the perspective that Meghan, “should give up her royal titles, tell Harry’s daddy they don’t need his money anymore and Harry and his son should abdicate from the line of succession, “to the more succinct, “It’s bizarre. She needs to drop the title!”

Others questioned the propriety of an American, “voting with a royal title.”

Others were more direct, pointing out the former actress is clinging for dear life to her title (which means nothing in America).

Meghan acquired the royal title on May 19, 2018, upon marrying Prince Harry. Soon after she decided she couldn’t stand the UK and left for the US. So yes, what’s up with her uppity use of a title that she basically threw down when she stomped off UK soil?

Technically she and Harry can use titles, but as many critics have observed, why bother? Unless of course, the pretentiousness appeals to one’s sense of vanity.

Michelle Obama Has Asked Meghan Markle To Participant In Her Event At The Last Minute

The All Women Vote, featuring Meghan Thee Duchess, commemorates the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment (calling for the right for women to vote) in the US.

Meghan has stuck her nose into politics, in an ill-mannered fashion, before. In 2016, she called Donald Trump, “divisive and misogynistic.”

Meghan told Marie Claire magazine, “I know what it’s like to have a voice, and also what it’s like to feel voiceless. I also know that so many men and women have put their lives on the line for us to be heard.”

“And that opportunity, that fundamental right, is in our ability to exercise our right to vote and to make all of our voices heard.”

We can guess who she won’t be voting for in November.
