As General Hospital viewers will recall from a recent episode, Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) suggested that Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) marry Willow since marrying her was not recommended by Attorney Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) because of the recent fraud that Sasha had committed by pretending to be Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros), long-lost daughter.
Diane had suggested that Michael get married to prove stability to the family court in his quest to obtain sole custody of Wiley Corinthos (Erik and Theodore Olson). But when he proposed to Sasha, Diane turned that idea down flat – so Michael would have to find another wife, even though he and Sasha love each other. However, when she suggested it with Willow, Michael, and Chase all there, Chase was vehemently opposed to the idea, although Willow appeared to be thinking about it because Sasha had a point – Willow would do anything to keep Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) away from Wiley – and has, she literally got in a physical fight with her trying to protect the baby.
The problem is, now Nelle’s charges are dropped and she is trying to get full custody of Wiley as well. Sasha made an excellent point when she tried to convince Michael and Chase that Willow would be the best stepmother possible for Wiley because she thought she was his birth mother for well over a year and loves him as if he was her own son. She would do anything in her power to protect that little boy, and already has!
Willow seriously considers marrying Michael to help him get permanent sole custody of Wiley. But the main one objecting is Chase! For one thing, the cop part of him sees fraud in this “marriage” and cannot agree to it for that reason, plus Willow is his girlfriend, not Michael’s – a little bit of jealousy appears to be mixed in with his legal concerns as well. Willow will attempt to clear the air and explain to Chase that she is not breaking up with him to marry Michael and does not have to – although they will have to conduct their own relationship “undercover”!
Willow might actually bring up that analogy; what she would be doing is no more than what Chase would be doing pretending to be someone else on an undercover investigation to take down a bad guy – it doesn’t mean he is using his cover in his private life – and Willow’s “cover” would be as Mrs. Michael Corinthos until the sole custody of Wiley is obtained and Nelle can no longer contest it.
Once Nelle can no longer contest the sole custody, then the marriage can be easily annulled, and she and Chase wouldn’t have to break up, although obviously, they would have to be careful not to be seen together in a manner that could be construed of as romantic, and they would have to live separately, obviously. Perhaps when she explains it that way, Chase will understand and he’ll be all in to help!
