General Hospital Spoilers: Sonny Plans A Road Trip With Mike

General Hospital spoilers tease that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) will plan a road trip with his father, Mike Corbin (Max Gail) but it won’t be to Sweden for that medical trial; it will be to the Bensonhurst area of Brooklyn, NY to give him a trip to his old stomping grounds, possibly for the last time.

General Hospital Spoilers – Mike Corbin Lived In Bensonhurst For All Of Sonny Corinthos’ Youth

The Corinthos family, including Mike when he left Sonny’s mother Adela Corinthos (Iris Almario) lived in the Bensonhurst area of Brooklyn, New York for all of Sonny’s youth. This is the same area where the Falconeris and the Cerullos lived. Longtime General Hospital viewers will recall that Dante Falconeri’s (Dominic Zamprogna) mother, Olivia Falconeri Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) and her late cousin, and Sonny’s late fiancé Connie Falconeri aka Kate Howard (Kelly Sullivan) grew up there, as did Brooklynn Ashton’s (Amanda Setton) mother, Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer).

There were good memories and bad memories, but Sonny wants his dad to see their hometown at least one more time while he still has some mind left, as his Alzheimer’s’ Disease is causing him to deteriorate rapidly; and maybe Mike will get some long ago memories back too.

GH Spoilers – Sonny Corinthos May Try To Play Along With Any Memories Mike Corbin May Bring Up

Mike has wanted a chance to make it up to Sonny for abandoning him and his mother for many years, since he tracked Sonny down in Port Charles all those years ago. But Sonny wasn’t ready to forgive; and the two butted heads for many years, unable to get along. So now, Sonny hopes that this trip with his father to their old stomping grounds might make some kind of a difference; maybe if Mike thinks Sonny is still a child or a teenager he will be able to play along, in a sense in real time – at least Mike’s perception of real time – and be able to express his forgiveness and love in terms that he will be able to understand.

Sonny may even ask his father to forgive him for all those years he held anger and unforgiveness against him after he first came to Port Charles. If Mike seeing all the old places, maybe even finding their old house still intact, that might trigger him into a mental state where he and Sonny can heal their old wounds with each other. This is what Sonny wants to happen more than anything.

General Hospital Spoilers – What If Mike Corbin Thinks Sonny Corinthos Is Joe Scully Sr. Again?

There is a possibility that this trip of memories that Sonny hopes will bring himself and his father to a place of healing could backfire, however. What if seeing the old places brings back the wrong memories, and Mike thinks he’s Joe Scully, Sr. (Robert Miano) again, or even worse, Deke Woods, (uncast character) Sonny’s dirty cop stepfather who used to beat him so bad? That would not go so well, especially if Sonny were to be trying to drive the car while Mike was thinking Sonny wasn’t Sonny!

He’ll need to plan ahead for that unfortunate situation should it occur and his plans for good memories backfire! However, he was able to finesse his way out of it when Mike thought he was Scully that day in Turning Woods, so hopefully he’ll be able to do it again and keep both hands on the wheel!
