General Hospital Spoilers –  Sonny Corinthos Faces His Toughest Challenge Yet – Braces For Defeat

Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, General Hospital head co-writer Chris Van Etten puts it this way, “When Sonny responds to the call from Turning Woods, he learns from the doctors there that Mike suffered a seizure, which is a symptom that is emblematic of late-stage Alzheimer’s, the final stages.

Initially, Sonny asks very specific questions that show that he does not hear the words ‘late-stage Alzheimer’s.’ He thinks that maybe this seizure is a very small, incremental progression in the disease, but not necessarily that we have come to the beginning of the end here. He is holding out hope at every turn that he can hold onto his father as long as humanly possible.”

But then again, even General Hospital fans know that just when you are hoping for the best possible outcome, things take a turn for the worst. In Port Charles, life is always unpredictable and if there is one person who knows this all too well, it’s Sonny Corinthos.

GH Spoilers – Is Mike Corbin Going To Make It?

Van Etten continues, “Sonny finds his father more diminished than he has been before, mostly nonverbal. Mike then surprises both of them by uttering a few words that seem to suggest that one some level, Mike is prepared for the end of his life – and this deeply unsettles Sonny.”

While Sonny and Mike have certainly had their fair share of ups and downs in the past, they have never been as close before as they are now. The mob boss has seen a lot in his life, but this is most definitely his biggest challenge yet.

Needless to say, General Hospital fans will have to tune in to find out what will happen next. But if there’s one thing that we already know, it’s that there’s always trouble just around the curve, right?
