Carly doesn’t trust Nelle and worries that good-hearted Nina will let herself be manipulated by her and lied to. She knows how Nina fell so easily for Valentin Cassadine’s (James Patrick Stuart) lies and still wanted to believe in and trust him over and over, and now she sees the same pattern in Nina with Nelle!
With Nelle in a custody battle with Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) for Wiley Corinthos ( Erik and Theodore Olson) and a pending lawsuit she has filed against General Hospital, Monica Quartermaine, (Leslie Charleson) Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) and herself for the operation to close the hole in Wiley’s heart, she takes concern that Nelle is trying to rope Nina in as a positive character witness for herself, which may be the only reason she wanted to work at Crimson Magazine, to begin with.
Jasper Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) is keeping an eye on Nelle and Nina isn’t that easily fooled anymore, but Carly wants some control over the situation, and Nelle, so she insinuates herself into it where she really doesn’t belong anyway! But, as General Hospital viewers already know, that’s just how Carly rolls! She cannot stay away from any situation that may affect her children even indirectly, and that includes her grown son who’s been out on his own for years!
But then maybe that’s because she doesn’t want to lose another child like she did Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig) and she knows full well the depravity and evil that Nelle Benson is and is capable of!
While Nina admits that Nelle has done some pretty bad things, she says she knows that she is capable of some evil herself – and she asks Carly if she recalls how little Avery Corinthos-Jerome (Ava and Grace Scarola) came into the world. Longtime General Hospital viewers will recall that when Nina first came on the Port Charles scene, she was full of hate, manipulation, and revenge.
She was out for revenge against Ava Jerome (Maura West) for stealing her man, Silas Clay (Michael Easton) and especially vengeful that Ava had given birth to Silas’ child, Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin) while she had been told that hers was miscarried while she was in a years-long coma – and when Ava was pregnant, Nina had wanted a child so bad she decided she would take Ava’s – and induced labor and kidnapped newborn Avery and ran off to Canada!
Nina and Carly continue to argue, and Nina brings up that she heard Carly was as manipulative as Nelle when she was younger – which she can’t deny. But that is no reason for Nina to cut Nelle any slack, and she can see that destructive pattern of trying to fix someone who doesn’t want to be fixed and who can never change, and admits she herself had tried to encourage Nelle to improve herself, but Nelle just spits in her face, figuratively. If their argument gets any worse, they may have to be pulled off each other, possibly by Jax!
