General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Ava Spencer (Maura West) just maybe softening when it comes to her relationship with Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma). GH viewers who have been keeping up with recent developments know that The Good Cassadine and Ava have a strained marriage, to say the least. Both partners desire an exit at the earliest opportunity. However, could that soon change?
In recent episodes, Nikolas met up with Ava in a bar and angrily castigated her for wanting to redecorate their mansion, Wyndemere. As he angrily said when he confronted her, “Do you care to explain why I woke up to contractors all over the house?” Ava got all upset because she was trying to have their home on Spoon Island revamped and upgraded according to her sense of fashion and style. Nikolas was having none of it, however, and in essence told her, “No way, sweetcakes.” He’d unceremoniously sent all her hired workers away.
General Hospital Spoilers – Former Lovers Spat
This spat between former lovers, and loveless marriage prisoners, soon meandered onto a subject that, to be honest, both actually care about deeply. Namely, that topic was the return of Nikolas’s son. As GH fans know, Nikolas’s heart has been broken ever since Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Bechtel) refused to leave his school in Paris in order to return to Port Charles with his father and Ava.
Spencer’s refusal had a lot to do with joy turning to fury after discovering that his father was actually alive. The boy had believed his father to be dead, and his father had allowed that deception so that he could focus on carrying out a plot of revenge against Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart). Normal fathers don’t do such things and Nikolas’s progeny was rightly angered. Still, Nikolas wanted to make amends. His desire was thrown back in his face, however, and he ended up respecting his son’s wishes to be left alone. Nevertheless, since then, Nikolas has carried the regret of alienating his child with him.
GH Spoilers – Interesting Developments Soon
On a positive note, GH viewers may see some interesting developments quite soon. This is because, during the argument over redecorating Wyndemere, Nikolas revealed that the reason he wanted everything to remain the same was simply that that’s the way Spencer liked it. As he told Ava, “Spencer loved Wyndemere, I want it to stay the same!”
Upon hearing Spencer’s name, Ava’s demeanor suddenly softened. It was like all at once, she understood Nikolas’s underlying motives and she found herself sympathetic. After all, she too cared about Spencer. Nikolas’s temper also eased up and he found himself admitting that Ava had been great when they’d visited Spencer together in Paris. In fact, his exact words were, “I appreciate everything you did for him.”
Ava then went on to say that she understood what Nikolas was going through. With unshed tears in her eyes, she stated flatly, “You caused your child pain. I understand what that feels like and it is the worst feeling in the world.”

General Hospital Spoilers – Ava Jerome In Tears
GH viewers know that their conversation ended with Ava in tears, when she told Nikolas that the easy part was being sorry for what he’d done and the hard part, simply not doing bad things, to begin with. However, the depth of emotion displayed by Ava could indicate that she still has feelings for Nikolas locked away somewhere deep inside. Moreover, with her knowledge of his ache to bring his son home, it could set in motion actions on Ava’s part to remedy that entire situation.
In that case, if Ava should be successful, could it end the conflict between her and her husband? Is it possible that they could normalize their relationship and become a new power-duo in Port Charles? Some GH fans just might like to see something like that happen. Both characters have a difficult past. But, wouldn’t it be nice to see some real redemption for a change?
