Since when does one need the approval of a friend when it comes to one’s career choice or place of employment? Why in the world should any GH fan believe that Maxie owes Lulu an explanation for accepting a position at Deception Cosmetics? Why should Maxie have to defend herself by letting Lulu know that, hey … at least she’s got a pay raise? Why is Maxie remotely apologetic? Oh! Lulu’s opponent in a child custody case is a silent partner at Deception? So what?
In any healthy friendship, there are boundaries and Lulu ought to know that as an adult. Lulu seems to be furious over anything that involves Valentin. However, Lulu’s personal relationship with the evil Cassadine really should have nothing to do with the fact that Valentin and Maxie both have a connection to any given business!
GH viewers watched as Maxie literally flipped out recently when she discussed her fears of Lulu’s reaction with Peter August (Wes Ramsey). Many GH fans can agree that it doesn’t seem very emotionally healthy to constantly worry about how one’s friends might take one’s life choices the way Maxie seems to. Although Peter appeared to genuinely try to assuage Maxie’s angst, it didn’t really seem to do much good.
However, Maxie should have considered a few things. What’s the worst that could happen if Maxie tells Lulu that Valentin is involved with Deception? Lulu’s going to suddenly stop being Maxie’s bestie? That hardly sounds reasonable, does it? Who knows, if Lulu was simply enraged maybe she’d refuse to speak with Maxie for a while. Really though, Maxie and Lulu have such a history together. GH fans know that Valentin isn’t someone who could really come between Lulu and Maxie’s friendship.
GH fans know that Lulu believes Maxie could still run into problems with Valentin. How, or why, Valentin might cause trouble for Maxie doesn’t seem to be something Lulu has really thought through. Yet, could it be a legitimate fear for Lulu? Most GH fans would say that it’s not likely.
Valentin has every reason to promote Maxie’s employment at Deception. Valentin wants to make money. Maxie’s skills are definitely set to help the cosmetics company start raking it in. Therefore, Valentin is most likely to view Maxie as an asset rather than a liability.
In the end, GH viewers may agree that Maxie did the right thing in being honest with Lulu about the fact that she’s connected to the same company as Valentin. However, Maxie also did the right thing in making sure Lulu understood that Maxie’s choices were hers, and she was making them with or without Lulu’s approval.
