GH fans know the relationship between Lulu and Valentin hasn’t ever been exactly cozy. In fact, it’s been anything but. Part of the reason for that is the fact that Lulu hasn’t ever forgiven Valentin for shooting her brother, Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma). That’s despite the fact that Lulu doesn’t even like Nikolas herself, a fact her mother, Laura Spencer (Genie Francis) recently reminded her of. The other reason, however, has a lot more to do with Charlotte.
Lulu has never argued that Valentin doesn’t love Charlotte. Instead, Lulu’s issue has always been how Valentin chooses to show his love. Viewers might find themselves somewhat sympathetic to Lulu in this case. Everyone has watched as Valentin has spoiled Charlotte rotten. Most recently, for example, Valentin gave Charlotte one of his credit cards and removed all limits from it! Moreover, what did Charlotte do with Valentin’s card? She bought a snake from Roger’s Reptile Roundup and used it to basically assault Ava Cassadine (Maura West)!
Obviously then, Lulu may have had some valid concerns when it came to Valentin’s judgment as a parent.
Up until recently, Lulu seemed ready to throw down and fight tooth-and-nail with Valentin to ensure that what she felt was best for Charlotte was what happened. However, there was an apparent shift in Lulu’s mind and heart. Many believe that this partially came about because her mother, Laura Spencer actually heard Valentin out when he asked her to teach Charlotte to be a good person. Laura believed Valentin when he said that he truly wanted what was best for his daughter … even if that meant removing himself from her life. Although viewers know that Lulu was upset and angry with Laura for even having the conversation with Valentin, it’s obvious that Laura’s words continued to echo in her brain.
The notion that Valentin could be noble may have never truly entered Lulu’s mind before. When one combines all that with the private conversation Lulu had with Charlotte in Nina’s office, it’s clear that Lulu could no longer hold on to the idea of severing the connection between her daughter and Valentin. It became obvious that she had to find a way really to do what was right for Charlotte … and that meant making real peace with Valentin.
The truth is, many GH fans might have found themselves smiling. Although it makes for great drama, the issue of child custody is one that many viewers might be familiar with. It’s not fun and games. Seeing Valentin and Lulu put aside whatever differences they might have and make a decision to forge a true and lasting peace for the sake of Charlotte might actually be a relief for some viewers.
As many GH fans know, there is no one-size-fits-all solution for child custody cases. It’s likely that Valentin and Lulu will continue to have obstacles they need to overcome. It’s likely that these two GH characters will have conflict and disagreements in the future.
However, if Valentin can really be the kind of man he wants to be, then viewers may see a happy ending for Charlotte. Many GH viewers might agree that’s what matters most.
