In a recent episode, Willow’s boyfriend, Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) caught up to Willow at GH while following up on an assault and battery charge. Chase seemed less than pleased when Willow told him that she planned to head over to the professional medical care facility, Turning Woods.
There, Willow intended to checkup on Harmony. As she told Chase, “I’m probably making too big a deal of it, but she seemed kind of jumpy last night. And, she’s been hard to reach for the last month or so.”
Chase is super hesitant and obviously thinks Willow hanging out with her mom is foolish. However, Willow reveals to Chase that she and her mom have made plans repeatedly, but apparently, each time they’ve fallen through. Chase sneers that it’s because Harmony canceled. Nevertheless, Willow makes excuses for her mom and says that maybe she wants time with Harmony because she just lost her baby and she’s dealing with the insanity that surrounds Wiley Cooper-Jones (Erik and Theo Olson).
GH fans really ought to be asking themselves at this point, what’s up with Willow. Everyone knows that Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), not to mention Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson), and who knows, maybe even Chase, are going to try and get her to marry Michael. While it’s all supposed to simply be for the benefit of Wiley and preventing the sociopathic Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) from gaining custody, one has to ask … seriously?
If Willow feels the need to gain some kind of emotional comfort from Harmony, a woman who subjected her to life in a cult, and who got her own lover to “initiate” Willow by having sex with her, she may be more damaged than many suspect. In fact, who is to say that her underlying issues couldn’t push her into some kind of breakdown that would leave her just as wacko as Nelle?
Moreover, knowing that the criminal mastermind, Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) is blackmailing Harmony doesn’t help anything!
Of course, GH viewers understand that Willow doesn’t know anything specific about Harmony vis-à-vis Cyrus, but she definitely can feel that something isn’t right in Harmony’s life. Indeed, she makes a point of talking to Chase about her discovery that Harmony has a new car that she can’t afford. That’s just more evidence that Harmony is caught up in something bad, which Willow desperately needs to stay away from at this point.
Why then, knowing all this, would Willow reach for comfort from a woman who has the emotional, mental, and spiritual strength of a wet spaghetti noodle? Again, GH fans have to suspect that it’s precisely because Willow herself is weak. She could be leaning on Chase for strength, but she’s not. She could reach out to Sasha, but she’s not. Heck, she could get an appointment with Dr. Byrne at GH, but hasn’t seen fit to get therapy since she joined Michael in grief counseling a while back.
There’s one thing GH viewers may agree upon at this point. Willow doesn’t need Harmony in her life. The woman is like kryptonite. Just being around the former cult member puts Willow in danger. Chase knows this, and so does Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) for that matter.
Moving forward, one can only hope that Willow gets her act together and starts leaning on the people in her life that truly love and care for her. Because, if Willow doesn’t, she could end up as batty as a bat can be.
