The truth about Dennis Mitchell’s (formerly Bleu Landau) has been kept secret for some time now. Ian thought Sharon would never find out, but then Dotty began blackmailing him. She had the phone, which held a voicemail from Dennis telling his mother what Ian had done to him. Unfortunately, Ian managed to get the phone and destroy it.
Dotty could simply bide her time, patiently watch, and wait for the right opportunity before she strikes.
Eastenders spoilers reveal that Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is furious that Sharon chose her baby over him. Adding to his wounded ego is the fact that The Vic was bought out from under him by none other than Ian Beale. So, this makes Phil and Dotty have a mutual hatred for one man. Could Dotty approach Phil and tell him the information? It certainly seems likely.
Ian is feeling smug, confident, and invincible right now. He believes that he has won and nothing can get in his way moving forward. The thing is, when people get overconfident like this, they usually let their guard down and start getting careless.
Speaking about the incident without quieting his voice. Threatening Dotty when Sharon is nearby. Or perhaps he will talk in his sleep or Sharon will recall certain statements from Ian that don’t make sense. She might even notice that one of Ian’s stories is a bit different than one he told previously. He will end up doing or saying something that could make Sharon suspicious.
The thing with cell phones is that modern technology allows syncing from one piece of equipment to another. Just because Ian destroyed the phone doesn’t mean that the voicemail is gone forever. With technology these days, pretty much everything is sent to “the cloud” or synced somewhere.
On my phone, there is a feature that takes my voicemails and transcribes them into “visual voicemail.” It also has the option to automatically sync saved messages to a cloud storage file. I have no idea where these files are sent because I don’t use this feature and never looked into it, but the technology does exist.
Some cell phone carriers also provide transcribed voicemails and text messages on their website when a customer logs into their account. Not everyone does this, but I know at least one carrier that provides this opt-in service. It’s a bit creepy in real life, but it would be awesome if it happened on the soap. Could Sharon stumble upon the truth in Dennis’s own words?
