Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Both Steve Johnson And Hope Brady Were Victims Of Stefano DiMera

Both Steve and Hope were victims of Stefano DiMera (Stephen Nichols) having had microchips implanted in their brains to turn them into different people – Steve, Stefano himself, and Hope, Princess Gina Von Amberg (Kristian Alfonso) – twice! Steve, having resigned himself to having lost Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) forever this time, and Kayla having moved on with Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth), Steve finds himself needing a friend to commiserate with, and finds Hope is really easy to talk to and really understands what he has been through – but they have a lot of other things in common, as well!

Right now, Hope could use an understanding friend too, one that she had not hurt as Princess Gina and doesn’t have to feel awkward with, and Steve can also relate to that feeling, having found out his crimes as Stefano, which of course he is not held responsible for any more than Hope is held responsible for her crimes as Princess Gina – many of them being ordered by Stefano! When Steve finds out that Hope was Princess Gina, the irony of their now becoming fast friends would be hilarious, if they weren’t still both suffering from false senses of responsibility! But they find that even though neither one should feel responsible for things they did under their “alternate personas” no one understands that guilt better than one another! The more they talk about it with each other, the closer they begin to bond with one another!

DOOL Spoilers: Both Of Them Understand The Pain Of Divorce

Both understand the pain of divorce, and the one they thought of as their soulmate for many years becoming involved with someone else – for Steve, it is very fresh, for Hope, it has been many years since Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) left her for another woman, Billie Reed (Lisa Rinna). They eventually got back together, only to have Bo die in her arms of a brain tumor. Steve remembers. He knew Bo when he was alive. They reminisce about the old days, and she tells him about her daughter Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal) having prevented the execution of an innocent man by convincing Rafe Hernandez, (Galen Gering) currently Salem Police Commissioner to retest the DNA on a murder victim’s clothing and found it wasn’t the man set for execution after all, and she captured him and forced him at gunpoint to go to Statesville Prison, and even though the confession was obviously coerced and he cannot be tried for it, at least the execution was prevented and the wrongly accused man was freed.

Hope doesn’t go into that it is Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) and that he is Ciara’s boyfriend, since Steve would only remember him as the Necktie Killer! Steve, however is impressed and said she’s definitely Bo’s daughter! Then they talk about her police work and his ISA work and that it didn’t work out for Hope with Rafe either. Sounds like a match made in – well, Salem!
