Days of Our Lives viewers will recall that Evan threw away a letter from the family court that showed problems in the nanny’s past and hindered Rafe’s adoption of David Ridgeway (Kyler and Caleb Ends). Rafe apparently was in contact with the court afterwards as to what was holding up the adoption and they must have asked if he had read the letter! Since Evan is a live in nanny, or “manny” for the child Rafe has taken care of for a couple of years now, David Ridgeway (Kyler and Caleb Ends) he goes through the incoming mail as part of his job.
However, it is not part of his job to screen Rafe’s incoming mail! David, of course, is Jordan Ridgeway’s (Chrishell Stause) baby that she sent Rafe out to California to bring back from where he was with a friend of hers, back when she was in Bayview Sanitarium. With Jordan murdered and her only known living relative, Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) in prison for her murder, and the birth father unknown, it’s been a difficult time for little David – it’s just a good thing that he is too young to remember the greatest part of it.
Rafe receives another background check, but this time instead of having it sent to his home address he has it come to him in care of the Salem Police Department. He finds a lot of things that Evan lied about when applying for his nanny job – for one thing, no nanny experience; for another thing – and this is a huge thing for someone who will be taking care of a child, especially in the home of a policeman!
Rafe finds assault charges, lots of domestic violence charges, and even theft charges in Evan’s record! He can’t believe such a mild-mannered man who is so good with baby David could have a past like that and be so good at hiding it! Rafe wonders if he’s been off his game in sniffing out criminals!
Rafe calls Evan to come to the Salem Police Department to confront him about his deceit! After he realized that Evan must have thrown away the correspondence from the family court, that threw up a red flag for him and he did some looking into Evan’s background at work, through his police resources. That is why he called Evan into the police station, because he found such horrid things in his criminal record that he is going to have to discuss these things with him.
Evan will probably say he was cleaning up his life and figured if he told the truth, he’d never get a job and be able to support himself! He will probably admit to having a rough past and that his ex was a psycho, but that won’t sound good considering the domestic violence charges – abusers always blame their victims! Evan may be looking for another job – or worse!
