90 Day Fiancé Spoilers: Yara Zaya Says Jovi Dufren’s Mom Is Trying To Control Her

TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé star Yara Zaya says Jovi Dufren’s mother is trying to control her! Gwen Dufren offered to host a small pre-wedding party, likely a wedding shower before the couples’ marriage. Gwen was only going to invite close family, but Yara refused, taking Gwen’s party offer as a control mechanism!

TLC 90 Day Fiancé Spoilers’ – Jovi Dufren Took Yara Zaya To Meet His Mother Gwen

Jovi took Yara to meet his mother in the most recent episode of 90 Day Fiancé. Gwen had prepared a traditional Cajun meal, which is a well-known custom in New Orleans, Louisiana, the middle of Cajun Country. Yara didn’t care for the cuisine. Gwen told the TLC cameras in a confessional that while she was happy to finally meet Yara, she wouldn’t keep it a secret if she started noticing red flags! Gwen could see why Jovi would be so into Yara, but if she didn’t like her after getting to know her better she definitely will warn Jovi.

She said she just couldn’t sit back and watch if he was making a major mistake! During the meal, Gwen asked a lot of questions about Yara and Jovi’s wedding plans. She also hinted the Jovi’s grandparents would love to see him get married. Yara told Gwen she’d rather not have his family at their wedding if her family couldn’t attend. For Yara’s part, she said she didn’t want to have a wedding with only one of their families being able to attend, because she didn’t want to hurt her family by not inviting them. Gwen understood where Yara was coming from; and it was at that point that she suggested throwing a small, separate party. Yara said she had already refused the idea and spoke to 90 Day Fiancé cameras, saying that she felt Gwen was trying to push her into something she had already said she didn’t want.

Yara also thinks that Gwen is controlling Jovi. Control is something Yara is dead set against, even with small things like parties. Most people would take Gwen’s party suggestion as an alternative to not inviting their extended family to the wedding itself, so as not to offend or hurt them. Yara takes anything Gwen says about the subject as an ongoing attempt at control of the couple and she’s not going to put up with it. Yara also doesn’t like Louisiana, the bayou, or Gwen’s cooking. Yara called where Jovi and Gwen live “a trailer park”. Yara told him that and she reiterated strongly that she was not going to marry in that area or in that city.

Yara stressed to Jovi that even if her family could make it to the wedding, she wouldn’t want them to see such a low class area (in Yara’s opinion). It sounds like Yara expects a lot more than what Jovi or New Orleans can provide for her obviously ostentatious, upper class tastes. In addition, Jovi loves to be outdoors and Yara doesn’t like the outdoor life. When they travelled all over Europe together after they first met, it sounds like Yara assumed Jovi was a man of wealth, means, and an upper class upbringing, and now that she has come to the states, she is having a very rude awakening!
