Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Doug Davidson’s Triumphant Return – How Will Paul Be Written Back Into Y&R?

Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Doug Davidson's Triumphant Return - How Will Paul Be Written Back Into Y&R?Rightful angst about Doug Davidson’s (Paul) status on ‘The Young and the Restless’ has been soothed in the most positive fashion, as news of the beloved actor’s return popped last week. Now, how will his longtime alter ego, Genoa City’s Chief of Police Paul Williams, be written back into Y&R?

Former executive producer and head writer Mal Young’s final scripts are set to play out in the next handful of weeks. Possibly, his final efforts will include Paul’s return, or more likely, new executive producer Tony Morina and new head writer Josh Griffith, Y&R stalwarts who’ve recently been elevated to their positions, are creating this revival storyline.

The simple of comeback’s would have the lens either end one episode with Paul being shown in his old office. Viewers have taken notice that the point of view offered to the audience for this set has been altered in recent weeks, with an apparent reverse shot of the area where Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) and Sharon (Sharon Case) work.

So, the chief’s return location could serve as the first renewed point of contact in a simple welcome back. In this instance, Paul and his underlings make a few comments about his having worked on an out of town case. But why waste this opportunity like that?

Here’s hoping that Paul isn’t the mystery villain who has been targeting Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), framed Victor (Eric Braeden), and put the recently discovered surveillance system within the walls at the Ranch. Those unlawful actions would mean that Paul’s return would be short-lived, ending with incarceration, or worse.

Paul should play the hero instead. Yes, he’s been out of the area, but has been handling an important matter and has remained in touch with Rey the entire time. Paul returns, teams with his lead detective and both men, representing Y&R’s past, present, and future put the J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) case to bed. The cheering for the end of this incredibly long storyline would definitely result in cheers from the entire audience.

Fans of ‘The Young and the Restless’ rightfully express their opinions on a regular basis. So, how will Paul be written back into Y&R?
