Young and the Restless (YR) Poll: Will Fireworks Lead Chelsea Back to Adam, or Nick?

Chelsea Boudreau (Melissa Claire Egan) still has feelings for Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But the spark she held for his loathed brother, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), also exists. As the fireworks involving Calvin Boudreau’s (John Burke) sudden death and the arrival of Daryl Tulane (Gordon Thomson) play out, both Newman’s will want to help Chelsea.

Adam has the deeper tie to Chelsea, in that they share a child together. Connor Boudreau’s (Gunner and Ryder Gadbois) last name is likely to revert to Newman, due to his step-father’s death. A re-pair of Chelsea and Nick could easily happen if there is a custody fight with Adam.

Even though ‘Chick’ had its moments, ‘Chadam’ was arguably (if not certainly) the more intense couple. Adam just opened his efforts to restore that relationship and will be extra motivated if Nick tries (or succeeds) in reviving a relationship with the woman his brother still loves.

Because both Newman men are single, the opportunity for them to clash regarding Chelsea is heightened. The setup in the weeks leading into the return of Egan’s character fully shifts what had been a truce between Adam (as then played by Justin Hartley) and Nick as of late summer 2016.

Fans recall that Nick agreed to watch out for Connor while Adam would be spending time in jail, due to having beaten a prison guard. Digitally skipping to now, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) used his power and connections to clear Adam’s record, but he’s blown that good will. However, the real truce between Nick and his dad doesn’t bode well for Adam.

Projecting a pairing of Nick and Chelsea would create mega-drama, as Adam wants her. But the Christian Newman (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) paternity issue also looms very large.

If Chelsea decides to reconcile with Adam, instead of Nick, her loyalties will be tested differently. Adam doesn’t just want his wife and the son he had with her back, he also wants Christian.
