Young And The Restless Spoilers: Summer Won’t Give Up Kyle That Easily – Lola Prepares For Battle

Summer Abbott (Hunter King) actually wants to keep her last name on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But she knows that Kyle Abbott’s (Michael Mealor) feelings for Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle) have been realized, which creates the need for some type of change.

Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) investigation into Mia Rosales’ (Noemi Gonzalez) attack on Lola will soon provide another reason for Kyle to focus even more deeply on the head chef at Society.

Summer has actually become the more sympathetic figure within the last month-plus, except in the minds of those who just won’t give Mrs. Abbott any slack.

It’s understandable that many Genoa City residents and their observers would be hardened to Summer’s plight. Her consistent bad actions began last June, when King was written back into the show. That’s what made Summer’s half-liver gift more than just a ploy to win Kyle back.

The renewed focus on the mistaken identity incident that led to Lola’s need for a liver transplant will cause Kola to temporarily take its eyes off Summer. That will prove to be a problem, as she isn’t about to let Kyle or Lola forget who she is.

As viewers recall, Kyle’s impulse marriage proposal came out of nowhere. They also know that it came from the writer’s room and felt somewhat pushed. Whether it’s acceptable will be determined by the full play-out of this arc.

It wasn’t implausible to believe that Kyle would do anything, including agree to marry Summer, so that Lola’s life would be saved. But having Mealor’s character make the suggestion instead of Summer meant that he was established as the villain. In retrospect, that became a leading part of the plot point.

Much of the current triangle, Summer-Kyle-Lola, has flipped in 2019. Rather than Kyle and Lola pursuing pure love, while Summer bides her time, Kola has become a self-involved pairing. Along with the above critique to Y&R about Kyle’s villain status, also goes credit, as Summer’s re-humanization is quite remarkable, believable, and real.

As for Lola, her personality is developing. The fight to this moment truly has been between Kyle and Summer, based upon their history. But Lola’s place in the present prepares her for battle now.
