Young And The Restless Spoilers: Doug Davidson Returns – Paul Williams Back In Genoa City!

Genoa City Police Chief Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) hasn’t been seen on the Young And The Restless (Y&R) for months, but it looks like he’s going to be back on the job very soon.

Eric Braeden, who plays Victor Newman on the soap, posted a photo of himself and Davidson on Twitter today with the caption: “He’s Back!!”

Hopeful fans immediately asked him about it, and one inquired: “For the day or for real?” “Real!!!” was Braeden’s response.

The news came as a welcome surprise for fans and co-stars alike, who have been demanding Davidson’s return to the Y&R since he was fired from the show in September 2018. Fans had even started a petition to bring the actor back that had garnered more than 7,000 signatures.

“OMG OMG OMG!!!! This is the best news!!!!!!!! YES!!!!! We did it!!!! @DougDavidsonYR welcome back Doug!!!! Omg!!!!” one fan tweeted after learning the news.

Braeden And Thomas Scott Lobbied For Davidson’s Return

Melody Thomas Scott had also recently retweeted a fan’s photo of herself and Davidson on her Twitter account with the caption: “I’ll never stop dreaming… Let’s make this happen! Love you and miss you, my first and forever-classic Genoa City partner in crime! Love you, my Dougie! xo.”

Thomas Scott, who plays Nikki Newman on the soap, had shared many storylines with the actor, who had been on the show for four decades. Long before Victor came on the scene, Paul and Nikki had been an item on Y&R.
Braeden had also been a vocal proponent of returning Davidson to Y&R. At the time of Davidson’s firing, he had angrily spoken out about it on Twitter.

“I have just learned that the wonderful Doug Davidson has been fired…This is a disgrace.”

But it looks like this story will have a happy ending for both Davidson and his fans. No details have emerged yet about long the actor will be back for and no return air date has been set yet, but it looks like Y&R will soon see the triumphant return of Genoa City Police Chief Paul Williams.
