TV Reboot News: About the Grease Reboot:

The upcoming series will feature some characters fans of the movie already know and several new ones to meet. The setting will be in and around the world of Rydell High School in the 1950s.

According to Entertainment Weekly, it will center on the “horrors of puberty” and students dealing with the peer pressures of high school. It is also teased to expect the series to show the rollercoaster of middle American life that includes a modern sensibility.

TV Reboot News: Big Rock n’ Roll Musical Teased

When discussing the upcoming TV reboot, Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max described what viewers can expect.

“This is high school and life in small-town USA told on the scale of a big rock’n’roll musical. It’s Grease 2.0 but with the same spirit, energy, and excitement you immediately think of when you hear any of these iconic songs. You’re the One That I Want!”

TV Reboot News: Reimagining Grease for Today’s Audience

Deadline reported that Nicole Clemens, President of Paramount Television explained how excited they are to be reimagining the classic for today’s audience. When the idea was brought to them by Bob Greenblatt, they were confident about the project. They have a great relationship with HBO Max and Greenblatt has a background in Broadway as well as a passion for musicals, especially Grease.

The Hollywood Reporter noted that there are not many details regarding the TV show. While the public is pumped up about the straight-to-series order, there are a lot of facts that remain unknown. Will episodes be 30 minutes or an hour long? How many episodes will there be in the reboot? There also doesn’t seem to be any information about casting yet, at least none that have been announced.
