The Young and The Restless: Why Do Fans Hate Tessa – Cait Fairbanks Speaks Out

The Young and The Restless star Cait Fairbanks, who plays Tessa, is taking a lot of heat from fans of the show. It would seem that she’s become truly effective at portraying her role since fans have started to hate not only her character but the actress behind it as well.

The arrival of the dark haired beauty at Genoa City left viewers wondering if they should root for her or be outraged at her character. With the things Tessa’s been doing lately, it is not surprising to see a lot of fans despise her.

Young And The Restless – Tessa Is A Hard Character To Root For

She stole Mariah’s diary and then has the nerve to blackmail fan favorites namely Sharon, Victoria, Nikki and Phyllis to get enough money to pay off the people she hired to smuggle her sister into Canada.

Tessa’s portrayer, Cait Fairbanks, seems to be having fun. “I actually like the challenge of making bad behavior into more of a human instinct. It’s more interesting as an actor to try to take a character that is a villain and try to humanize them as much as possible. It becomes a fun game!” Fairbanks said.

As expected, avid viewers of the soap weren’t shy to let her know how they feel towards Tessa. But what Fairbanks finds interesting is that fans do not just attack the character but her as well. When that happens, Fairbanks tries to explain that it is only Tessa who is hurting Mariah and everything that is happening is just for show.

Fairbanks admitted separating her real personality to her role as Tessa will be difficult for viewers especially when her character is the one hurting Mariah, who is loved by many on and off screen.

But she was also quick to point out that there are several other villains in the Young and The Restless, some have even done worse things that Tessa. She defended her character and said that maybe she did what she did because she had to and that is her way of getting what she wants, Soaps In Depth reports.

Now that the secret has been revealed, the question is if Mariah will still accept Tessa. If both characters can move past the lies and the problems then maybe their relationship has a chance.
