Summer has hit a rough patch in her life due to her ex Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor). After learning that she was a donor match for Lola Rosales’ (Sasha Calle) liver transplant, Kyle agreed to marry Summer so she would go through with the surgery.

The surgery was a success and it looked like Kyle was going to honor his marriage vows to Summer, but his heart belonged to Lola. After asking Summer for a divorce, Kyle proposed to Lola.

The end of her marriage along with seeing Kyle and Lola make wedding preparations has affected Summer. She loves Kyle and considers him her first love; it broke her heart when he ended their marriage without giving them a chance.

To take her mind off Kyle, Summer has been hanging with Genoa City’s newest hunk Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson). The two have been partying up a storm by hitting the hottest clubs and knocking back a few drinks.

While Summer is using alcohol and partying to unwind after her break up with Kyle, she may be doing damage to her body.

It was less than three months ago that she underwent surgery and donate part of her liver. There were complications during surgery and Dr. Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) has advised her to take it easy. But Summer had disobeyed his orders and now she may find herself back in the hospital.

The more Summer drinks, the more damage she’s going to do to her liver, which is going to lead to her hospitalization. Summer’s health crisis is going to bring her parents Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) to her bedside. Summer and her mother have been at odds lately, but Summer’s crisis could be the thing to repair the relationship between mother and daughter.

Plus, this could also be the thing to make Kyle realize his true feelings for Summer and realize that he made a mistake in ending their marriage.
