The Young and the Restless alum Michael Muhney is well-loved by all his fans. He has been named the best recast of all times, creating the dark Adam Newman that we all know and love. However, the actor went through a very dark time in 2014 after he lost his job at Y&R.
Michael Muhney Play Adam Newman For Five Years
Muhney played Adam for five years. In 2014, after a rumor that he touched a female co-worker, his contract was not renewed. So, Adam was written off the show for several years.
Since his departure, many Y&R fans have petitioned CBS to rehire him. For a while, it looked like CBS listened to the viewers, only to announce that Mark Grossman would take over the role of Adam.

My wife has given me permission to share this story,” Michael wrote. “Today, 14 years ago, my wife’s mom took her own life. My kids have grown up without her. She was a strong, amazing woman who had tragic circumstances thrust upon her and she felt she had no way out. Save for one option.”
Muhney continued,” Over the past five years, during several many bike rides around Los Angeles with inescapable pain and frustration and tears in my eyes, my mind would wonder, I’d think about my life insurance policy for my wife and kids. If’s imagine drifting across that double yellow line into oncoming traffic and ending it all. All over a grotesque internet rumor and lie. I found myself wanting peace and considered the darkest option. IM so thankful there were moments I chose to talk to someone about my pain and depression. Love and support from my mother and life got me through those times. We all need help sometimes. “
The actor admitted that it’s taken him years to admit this and he was afraid to share this with his followers. But he wants to share now in hopes that it will reach just one person that may be in a very dark place.
