Denise Richards plays Shauna Fulton on The Bold and the Beautiful and is known for being on the reality show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. However, her drama went beyond the set when the actress had to undergo emergency surgery. The operation was necessary to repair four hernias and it taught Richards a valuable life lesson. She is urging others to listen to their bodies before it’s too late.

For months, Denise was in pain and has troubling symptoms. However, she thought that it would resolve on its own and just go away. She tried to be a symbol of strength and used her powerhouse mentality to push through the pain. Denise and her husband, Aaron Phypers shared the details about the scary health crisis on Instagram.

“Being a mom, wife, and having a career, sometimes it’s easier to just be strong and power through, I thought the pain and my other symptoms would just go away. They did not and got a lot worse.”

She is an active and busy woman. She is a mother to three children and has a full schedule with her acting career. Not only is she a reality star on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but also films scenes for the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful.

B&B Spoilers – Diagnosed with Multiple Hernias

According to People, Richards thought she just had one femoral hernia. However, a doctor’s visit would show two femoral and two inguinal hernias. While the latter are visible, femoral hernias are more difficult to diagnose due to their location.

While hernias can be treated and sometimes don’t pose problems, it is important to get evaluated by a doctor. Sometimes hernias can cause additional health problems. According to The Mayo Clinic, possible complications from untreated hernias include bowel obstruction, cutting off the blood supply and gangrene.

The 48-year old reality star and actress is getting stronger each day. Denise and Aaron posted photos of before surgery and after. They also wrote on the social networking site the story of the whole ordeal. In addition, the proud husband wrote a sentiment saying how much he admired Richards’ strength.

“To the most incredible woman my soulmate. I am always in awe of your beauty perseverance, dedication in all you do. These photos taken a couple of months ago from an emergency procedure femoral hernia, not one but four! 6 hours waiting close by. Love you baby everyday getting stronger!”

RHOBH co-star Lisa Rinna commented on the Instagram post. She asked if Richards was okay and mentioned her missing a social event. The former Days of Our Lives star responded to the criticism, saying she reached out personally to Denise after learning about her health crisis.

The B&B and RHOBH star admitted that she regrets not getting medical attention when she first began experiencing symptoms. She confessed to waiting too long.
