This way, she only knew as much as fans did. However, it also made her job a bit difficult because she had to ask herself questions. Examples include why the character was making a certain decision or what prompted a specific reaction.

According to Soap Opera Digest, Scott Clifton discovered a storyline “rule.” Even though he can’t recall the specific number, he was told that storylines should go on for a certain time period.

Scott said, “So, how long are you gonna do this? How long until the truth is gonna come out? And he [Brad Bell] said my father [William J. Bell] always had a rule about storylines like this… but he said something like, ‘It’s gotta be at least eight months.’”

While the long and painful storyline was difficult, both actors are happy that the suffering was not in vain. Once the truth was revealed, Hope found out her baby didn’t die after all. She was alive and Hope was getting her back. This was amazing news to viewers who had been waiting for this to happen on-screen for a long time.

“It was so validating and rewarding because we spent so long trying to reassure fans that their suffering wasn’t in vain, to know that they believed us enough to tune in was really nice.”
