Roseanne Barr is blaming her former co-star and friend Sara Gilbert for destroying her television career when in fact it was the actress herself who managed to do it herself. At least, that’s what critics believe.
Barr was fired from the ABC network after she made offensive remarks about President Barack Obama’s former adviser Valerie Jarrett on Twitter back in May of 2018. But according to the actress, she thinks it’s Sara Gilbert’s remarks about her tweets that caused ABC to cut ties with her.
“Roseanne’s recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show,” Sara tweeted at the time. “I am disappointed in her actions to say the least.”
Roseanne Barr Apologized But Says Sarah Gilbert Caused The Most Damage
This prompted Barr to simply respond with “Wow! Unreal.” And while she did apologize for her controversial comments towards Jarrett last year, it looks like Roseanne now thinks it’s Gilbert who caused the most damage.
“[Gilbert] destroyed the show and my life with that tweet,” Barr told The Washington Post in an interview this week.
Although, Sara wasn’t the only person to go on record to slam Barr for her insensitive tweet. Michael Fishman, who played Barr’s son on the show, said that her comments were both “reprehensible” and “intolerable.”
Other Former Cast Members Are Keeping Their Distance
Wanda Sykes, who worked on the script for Roseanne, also said that she wouldn’t be returning to the comedy after Barr’s tweets made headlines.
So far, Gilbert herself has not made any comments about Barr’s claims. Although at this point, it’s doubtful that she will say anything. Reports suggest that many of Barr’s former castmates have distanced themselves from the comedienne after she made her distasteful remarks.
