Meghan Markle Makes A Suprise Visit To Charity Photoshoot, Shrugs Off Private Jet Controversy

Meghan Markle is not one to be fazed by haters and bashers. Last Wednesday, the 38-year-old actress-turned-princess proved that she’s bigger than all her critics by continuing to work for her causes. The Duchess of Sussex, who is technically still on maternity leave, stepped out and made a surprise appearance at her new clothing line’s photoshoot.

Meghan’s New Clothing Line

Even when she was still pregnant, Meghan was busy working behind-the-scenes for a new clothing collection for Smart Works, a non-profit organization helping women get into the corporate world. She featured the charity in the September issue of Vogue UK, which she also guest-edited.

Meghan’s unexpected visit on Wednesday was documented on the Sussex Royal Instagram Stories. Clad in simple jeans and shirt, the Duchess can be seen smiling and laughing with her charity’s staff and models.

“After quiet visits to Smartworks over the last year, the Duchess was moved by the impactful work being done by this non-profit organization that helps women into the workforce, equipping them with both the skills and clothes they need to feel job-ready,” the Sussex Royal IG posted early this month.

Meghan’s clothing line will be in partnership with four major fashion brands and each sale will make an appropriate donation to Smart Works.

Meghan Focuses on “Bigger Things”

Meghan’s recent public appearance comes amid a huge backlash against her and Prince Harry for taking four private flights in 11 days. The couple just returned from their back-to-back vacation trips–first in Ibiza and then to Nice, France. Their mode of transportation didn’t sit well with netizens and environmentalists, because private flights emit more carbon dioxide than commercial flights.

But royal insiders say that Meghan is keeping her head above all the fuss. According to Vanity Fair, sources close to the former Hollywood star say that Meghan doesn’t read tabloid news and knows that the controversy will soon die down.

“As far as she is concerned, it’s a storm that will blow over,” the insider said. “She is focused on bigger things right now.”
