Jane Cox, known for her role as Lisa Dingle in “Emmerdale,” speaks up about her future plans following her exit from the soap. In an interview with “This Morning,” Cox said she’s open to doing acting projects provided that it’s not serial drama as it prevents her from doing the things she loves like baking and making wine from apple trees.
“I like to write. I don’t finish things very well but I’ve got some ideas for a book that I’ve started. And a couple of films that I’ve been working on for years, that I’ve never brought to fruition. I’m at a good place to do that now, I think,” she added.
For those asking if she’ll ever appear on a reality show, she was quick to answer, “No, I wouldn’t do that. I’ve got my own private life, I’m an actor more. I don’t consider myself to be a celebrity in that way.”
Cox has portrayed the role for 23 years and her decision last March to leave the show shocked many. She explained that even though she loved her job and it was hard for her to leave, she had made some important realizations.
The brilliant Jane Cox is in the studio today. Sniff. Must stop crying over Lisa’s death last night, poor Zak! Poor Belle! Poor us we’ll miss our Dingle matriarch @emmerdale @thismorning

“But I’m 66 now and I felt that I wanted to not be working at this pace so much in the future. I’ve also got lots of other things that I want to do, not necessarily acting but there’s lots of things that I’m interested in. If I didn’t do it now, I probably wouldn’t.”
Viewers may recall that Cox’s alter ego recently returned to the village and revealed that she’s been diagnosed with a terminal heart condition. Just after she tied the knot with her soulmate Zak Dingle (Steve Halliwell), her husband found her unconscious on the sofa, eventually realizing that she has died.
When asked how she felt about the way she exited the soap, she said, “I think it’s better, really. I think it tells a complete story and there’s a lot of people out there who are dealing with terminal illnesses.” She also hoped that “it gave a truthful end to Lisa’s story.”
