General Hospital’s Kin Shriner Talks About 40 Years As Scotty Baldwin

Kin Shriner, who is known for his role as Scott Baldwin in “General Hospital,” was born in New York. He moved to Hollywood to pursue his acting career. Before landing his first contract with Universal Studios, he attended workshops to improve his craft.

He was placed under contract and did multiple jobs where he was paid on a weekly basis. He got to work with Gregory Peck and his idol Raymond Burr. He then auditioned for General Hospital. He was made his first appearance on August 2 and August 4, 1977.

In his guest episode on Soap Opera Digest’s podcast, Baldwin shared that at the time of his audition for “General Hospital,” producer Tom Donovan approached him and talked about the setup of a certain character. He eventually got the role.

The soap lasted for 45 minutes but was then extended to an hour. He worked with Susan Brown, Peter Hansen, and Genie Francis, who plays Laura Spencer (Scott’s love interest).

When Anthony Geary joined “General Hospital” as Luke, that’s when Scott and Laura fell apart, and it paved the way for Luke and Laura as a couple. At that time, Shriner’s contract came up. He was offered a deal that took him to New York and his agent encouraged him to take it, but he eventually returned to “General Hospital.”

When his popularity started to soar thanks to his role as Scott, he didn’t realize that the show had gone through the roof until the time came when lots of people were already asking for his autograph. He said that Francis was the catalyst, since lots of women related to her character.

During his time on “General Hospital,” Shriner also appeared in other TV series like “Rituals” as Mike Gallagher, “The Bold and The Beautiful” as Dr. Brian Carrey, and on “General Hospital’s” spin-off “Port Charles.” He also appeared on “The Young and The Restless” as Harrison Bartlett, and “As The World Turns” as Keith Morrissey.

“General Hospital” spoilers show that Scott  will be seen talking to Ava Jerome (Maura West) about the plans that she’s making. Ava could ask him to pretend as her boyfriend since his son Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) turned her down. Scott will most likely turn Ava’s offer down and tell her that she’s cray and her plan is downright dangerous.
