General Hospital spoilers tease that there may be a long-ago experiment done on sets of twins involved in the blindness virus that so far has struck both Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom).
There could be some kind of genetic code involved, which would cause a twin exposed to the virus to be immune, while the other twin manifests the virus after a long incubation period. In real life, this is likely an impossibility, but so is memory mapping from one twin to another and many other scenarios that have been featured on GH over the years!
A few weeks ago in a conversation with her son Peter August (Wes Ramsey), Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) was filling him in on her side of their family. She mentioned her twin Alex briefly but didn’t say a lot about her to him. However, usually, when there is a mention of a past character, either the character or a storyline including the character will start soon, whether the character is involved on or off-screen. Could Alex Devane also have worked with Dr. Arthur Cabot? Anna has never encountered him in person and neither has Ryan, but Kevin Collins did, possibly Alex did too!

It’s entirely possible that Alex worked with Dr. Cabot, having been in the DVX offscreen, prior to 1980. It was revealed on General Hospital in May 2017 that Alex was under DVX orders to impersonate Anna and seduce Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) to get the Chimera from him. Prior to 2017, all of Alex’s history was shown on the cancelled ABC soap “All My Children” which Anna was also featured in, with Finola Hughes playing both twins then also.

So far GH’s other set of twins, Drew Cain (Billy Miller) and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) have not been impacted by the blindness virus, but if one of them is in future episodes, it’s possible that either Drew was inoculated with it on Cassadine Island (this is the more likely possibility) or Jason was in the Russian clinic. The way it seems to work, if one twin is inoculated the other one manifests the virus. It all depends on the incubation period and how long it takes to manifest.
In Anna’s case it could have been 40 years or more and Alex would have been inoculated: Ryan and Kevin have only been on the GH landscape since the mid-1990s, and we’re not sure how old they are although Jon Lindstrom himself is 61 years old. Anna and Alex are 62 years old, although Finola Hughes herself is 59.
They are close in age if we go by either the actors’ true ages or Anna and Alex’s tv ages. Drew and Jason are much younger, so they may not be impacted. Stay tuned to GH and keep checking General Hospital spoilers to see future developments in this case!
