General Hospital Spoilers: Michael E. Knight Opens Up About New Trouble In Port Charles

The ex-Tad “The Cad” Martin of All My Children is making his debut on General Hospital on September 30 as Martin Gray. The actor shared that the fans and viewers’ reaction to the news of his casting meant a lot to him and said it was “incredibly humbling.”

He revealed that the role came up when got in touch with Executive Producer Frank Valentini, who at that time, was working with co-head Writers Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor to determine the best character for the multi-award-winning actor.

According to Van Etten, Knight’s character is “capable of all manner of shenanigans.”

“There are a number of people in Port Charles who are in trouble and his character will have an impact on how their stories are solved or further complicated,” he added. All these imply that the actor’s new character is sure to bring a lot of drama in Port Charles.

Van Etten also explained why Knight was the best choice for the role. With his skills and experience, the soap veteran will surely bring something special to the show, “his own special brand of zest.”

“I think the devotees of soap operas love seeing this callback to the rich history of ABC daytime shows,” he added.

Knight Thought Valentini Was Joking

At first he thought Valentini was joking when he mentioned the character, Martin, since it was his former alter-ego’s last name on All My Children. “I was like, ‘Okay! Nothing like an inside joke with the audience!’” he said. Kidding aside, Knight was truly grateful to Valentini, Van Etten, and O’Connor for making it happen.
