General Hospital Spoilers: Kathleen Gati Celebrates A Special Anniversary!

General Hospital spoilers tease that Kathleen Gati is celebrating a very special anniversary on Saturday, August 24th, 2019; she has played Liesl Obrecht on GH for seven years!

General Hospital Spoilers – General Hospital Fans First Saw Liesl Obrecht In A Swiss Clinic

Liesl was introduced as the director of a Swiss clinic where Dr. Robin Scorpio-Drake (Kimberly McCullough) was being imprisoned by Cesar Faison (Anders Hove). Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan) was also in the clinic, having been presumed dead as Robin had, for many years. Robin and Duke were discovered and rescued when Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) went to look for Robin, who Heather Webber (Robin Mattsson) had claimed was alive, and Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) had gone looking for Anna!

GH Spoilers – Liesl Obrecht Was Only Supposed To Be A Dayplayer

Liesl was supposed to only be a day player, and the part was supposed to last only a couple of days. But producers were wowed by Kathleen’s performance and expanded her role. In 2013 she was revealed as the mother of the scheming Dr. Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thibaud), fathered by Faison who Liesl had been obsessed with and chased after for many years, in spite of Faison’s own obsession with Anna.

She helped Britt scheme to win the affections of Dr. Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson), Robin’s husband, and later Nikolas Cassadine (Tyler Christopher) by assisting her in a surrogate pregnancy with one of Dante and Lulu Falconeri’s (Dominic Zamprogna, Emme Rylan) frozen embryos, who is now Rocco Falconeri (O’Neill Monahan). In 2014, she was revealed to be the mother of Detective Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) with Faison as well, having given him to her sister Madeline Reeves (Donna Mills) to raise. More family arrived for Liesl in 2014 with the arrival of Madeline’s daughter Nina Reeves (then Michelle Stafford, now Cynthia Watros) in Port Charles.

General Hospital Spoilers – Nathan West Was A Secret To Cesar Faison Until 2018

Faison didn’t find out about his son until Nathan married Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and became pregnant with baby James West (the Marciano twins) and she cut off a piece of Valentin Cassadine’s (James Patrick Stuart) hair in an attempt to get medical history and he was found not to be related, therefore exposing Liesl’s lie about Victor Cassadine (Thaao Penghlis) being Nathan’s father.

This led to Nathan’s untimely death at the hand of his own father, being killed in the Crimson offices in front of Maxie in early 2018. Liesl’s grief drove her to keep Heinrik Faison aka Peter August (Wes Ramsey), Faison’s son with Anna Devane or her sister Alexandra Marick (Finola Hughes) prisoner in a cabin where she tied him up and starved and tortured him!

GH Spoilers – Current Storylines

Liesl is involved in keeping Valentin’s secret of finding a fake daughter, Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) to win Nina back, Nina had been pregnant while in a coma and longing for a daughter. Since Sasha is nearly a doppelganger of Britt, there has been fan speculation that she could be related to Nina anyway through Liesl and many theories have been put forth as to how Sasha may be related.

She is also a good friend of Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) who recently received the memories through implantation via a flash drive of pre-2012 Drew Cain and will attempt to give him some advice this week, which he will ignore. Her obsession with Cesar Faison finally died and recently seems to have moved to Jasper Jacks (Ingo Rademacher)!
