General Hospital Spoilers: Carly And Sonny On The Rocks Over Mike Going Into The Swedish Alzheimer’s Trial

General Hospital spoilers tease that Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) will continue to be annoyed by Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) insistence on putting his father, who is rapidly deteriorating in his cognitive functions, into an Alzheimer’s experimental treatment trial in Sweden!

General Hospital Spoilers – Carly Corinthos, Gladys Corbin, And Even Jason Morgan Tried Talking Sense Into Sonny

Carly isn’t the only one who has tried to talk sense into Sonny about such a drastic step in Mike Corbin’s (Max Gail) treatment being too hard on him; Turning Woods Memory Care advised Sonny not to even bring his elderly father on any more home trips to the Corinthos compound because it was so confusing to him! And he wants to take him to Sweden, where no one speaks his language, they likely have to go through several airports on layovers, and there’s at least a six-hour time difference?

Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) tried to tell him it wasn’t in Mike’s best interests, and Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs) couldn’t stop talking about her friend Dot who had Alzheimer’s and wanted to die with dignity and instead had a feeding tube inserted at the request of her family, and according to Gladys, suffered a long, painful death!

GH Spoilers – Mike Corbin Is Rapidly Deteriorating In His Cognitive Functions

Mike is rapidly deteriorating in his cognitive functions, although so far his physical functions are okay. But as anyone who has walked through the heartbreaking Alzheimer’s journey with a loved one knows, the physical functions go next because the parts of the brain that control them die, for all intents and purposes. This is what Gladys is trying to spare her cousin, and where Mike’s “wife”, Yvonne Godfrey (Janet Hubert) apparently has gone, Marcus Godfrey (Nigel Gibbs) having had to put her in the hospital for a feeding tube to be inserted.

But Sonny will continue to insist that he needs to put Mike in this trial if there is at all a chance that it may restore him for at least a few more years. Dr. Griffin Munro (Matt Cohen) had recommended it and had offered to write a reference to the doctor running the trial but he had only looked at Mike’s most recent medical records, he hadn’t actually seen Mike and assessed his condition.

General Hospital Spoilers – Sonny Corinthos And Carly Corinthos Will Continue To Disagree

Sonny and Carly will continue to disagree on this point, that taking Mike to Sweden would not be in his best interests, and that the long trip and strange surroundings could do more harm than good, and that Mike would be confused and maybe even try to run from Sonny if there was a layover or change to a different flight at an airport in between!

The trip itself, even on a jet, could take eight hours and there are at least six hours of time difference as well which might confuse and tire Mike too much and be harmful. Carly will continue to be annoyed with Sonny and his insistence to do for Mike what he thinks is best rather than what is actually in Mike’s best interests, and it will continue to be a point of contention between them!
