General Hospital Spoilers – It all started when Ava Jerome betrayed Nikolas Cassadines’ memory

Nikolas and Ava had grown quite close right before his apparent death. In fact, Ava was present when Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) shot and supposedly killed Nikolas. His body fell out a window and into the water. A horrified Ava was all set to testify that Valentin murdered Nikolas so Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Bechtel) could get justice for his father.

Earlier in that year, Ava’s face had been severely scarred in a fire. It was so severe that plastic surgeon were only able to fix some of the damage. But Valentin offered Ava treatment at a facility in Russia that would be able to remove the scarring completely as long as Ava didn’t testify against Valentin. Ava still feels badly about that decision and regrets it deeply,

General Hospital Spoilers – Flash forward to the present

When Nikolas revealed himself to Ava that first night, he slipped away after she fainted, letting her believe she was hallucinating. At this point, Nikolas revealed his anger toward Ava for betraying him. This is likely what’s motivating his cruel behavior the next time he visited her at Shadybrook after Ava had checked herself in. Nikolas once again appeared to a drugged up Ava and this time he used every means at his disposal to convince Ava that he was a ghost and suffering in Hell. He went as far as to tell her that her daughter, Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin) was in hell as well and wouldn’t know peace she revealed the location of Helena Cassadine’s (Constance Towers) portrait.

But during this confrontation, Nikolas dropped his Cassadine ring. Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) discovered the ring and correctly deduced that Nikolas was actually alive. And after the events of the art auction. Nikolas showed back up at the gallery. Ava, armed with the knowledge that isn’t being haunted as well as with a gun, has been expecting him. The two have done some pretty terrible things to each other, but maybe now, they can get it all out.
