Apparently Kevin was tested to be a kidney donor for Jordan and it turns out, he is a match. But Jordan needs a kidney right away. And Kevin is supposed to be having a fake romance with Ava Jerome. He is scheduled to take her to the Nurses Ball, to draw his serial killer twin brother Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) back to Port Charles if he’s alive!
It takes four to six weeks to heal from a kidney donation, according to Johns Hopkins, a hospital with a major kidney transplant center in Maryland with a famous school of medicine. The very first kidney transplant was performed there in 1968.
Kevin would need to spend a minimum of two days in the hospital, But with it taking four to six weeks beyond that, would he even heal in time to attend?
The Nurses Ball starts on May 16, and that’s not a lot of time for Kevin to heal. Is it possible that the man who responded to the text wasn’t Kevin at all, but Ryan? Could he already be setting up another switcheroo where Kevin will be the donor and therefore incapacitated. And Ryan will somehow fool Ava and everyone else again? General Hospital viewers can’t imagine Kevin would turn Jordan down!
Granted, this is soap opera land and not real life, so it is possible that Kevin could donate his kidney right away and be ready in time for the ball, So the possibility of Ryan responding to the text is probably unlikely. But he could make a surprise appearance at the Nurses’ Ball as Ava’s date, and a Kevin recovering from kidney donation probably won’t be in any shape to fight him off!
General Hospital viewers will wonder about the missing hand. Won’t Ryan’s missing hand be a dead giveaway? Not necessarily – according to “Tech Insider” which is a You Tube channel. There is a company in Mexico that makes prosthetic hands and other replacement body parts so lifelike, out of flesh colored silicone, that the difference is indiscernible. Ryan could have one of these hands.
General Hospital viewers will also recall several years ago that the DVX had developed face masks lifelike enough to fool anyone. Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) disguised himself as Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan) in that way and fooled Anna Devane (Finola Hughes).
So will Ryan, with a realistic prosthetic hand, show up as Ava’s date at the Nurses’ Ball? With Kevin still recovering from a kidney donation, he could surprise her with a last minute appearance, saying he’s healed quicker than expected and released. Only time will tell.
