General Hospital News: Coby Ryan McLaughin Teases Shiloh, Cult Drama

Multi-talented star Coby Ryan McLaughlin seems to be walking on sunshine during this time in his life with his role on General Hospital. In fact, he revealed the nitty-gritty of how he landed the part of Shiloh on the show.

According to McLaughlin, a simple phone call from his agent opened the door to this new opportunity. He was told the producers were looking for somebody new over at GH and simply asked him if he wanted to do it.

Ryan admitted he had second thoughts at first so he did not decide right away after the phone call. He researched the Casting Director, the Executive Producer, and the rest of the producers of the show to see if he could work with them.

General Hospital – McLaughlin Channeled His “Inner Freak”

“I’ve known Mark Teschner, Casting Director of GH, because my old acting coach, John Homa, was the coach on General Hospital,” McLaughlin told Soap Opera Digest. “So, I felt really comfortable with him.”

He added that after reading about the executive producer and the the show’s other producers, he tried to play it safe and made some choices, which might be uncomfortable for the people on the show. He then realized he had to brave the show whoever his colleagues might be.

“You have to channel your inner freak,” McLaughlin said.

He also praised for his co-star Kelly Monaco, who plays Sam on GH and revealed that he and Monaco have known each other for a long time. This made working with each other a lot more comfortable.

General Hospital – McLaughlin And Monoco Enjoy Working Together

“I went to school at Penn State. I’ve spent a lot of time on the East Coast and so she and I really bonded over that,” McLaughlin revealed. “We have a great time. She’s super-cool and really chill.”
