General Hospital Coming and Goings: Baby James West Recast!

General Hospital spoilers tease that Baby James West, formerly played by the Marciano Twins, has been recast and slightly SORASED (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome) and is now played by Caleb and Kyler Ends as of August 30th. General Hospital viewers will now see James as a cute toddler rather than a baby.

James West Is The Son Of Maxie Jones And The Late Nathan West

General Hospital viewers will recall that James West is the son of Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and her late husband, Detective Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) and was delivered at the side of the road in the country by Maxie’s now serious boyfriend, Peter August (Wes Ramsey) when Maxie unexpectedly went into labor. Nathan and Peter were half-brothers, Nathan’s paternity having been revealed when Maxie stole a hair out of Valentin Cassadine’s (James Patrick Stuart) in search of DNA for prenatal tests and to make sure there were no genetic diseases that could pass down to the baby.

Up until the revelation that Nathan, like his sister Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thibaud) was fathered by Cesar Faison (Anders Hove), Liesl Obrecht’s (Kathleen Gati) story was that Nathan was a Cassadine. The tests proved that Nathan was not a Cassadine, but the whole truth was not revealed until later, about the same time that Peter’s true identity as Nathan and Britt’s half-brother, Heinrik Faison was revealed. Eventually, Peter and Maxie have become closer and closer friends and now have become lovers and talking moving in together, and Peter is quite attached to his nephew!

James Is Maxie Jones’ Second Child

As General Hospital viewers also will recall, James is Maxie’s second child, her daughter Georgie Spinelli (Lily Fisher) being around four to five years older than James and fathered by Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) amongst a comedy of errors! Maxie had been a surrogate for Dante and Lulu Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna, Emme Rylan) and she tripped over a puppy outside her apartment door and miscarried. Not long after, Spinelli showed up and the two had a drunken night of love which resulted in Maxie’s pregnancy of her own child, and the timing was close enough for Maxie to be able to pass her own pregnancy off as the surrogate pregnancy; but afterwards, she wanted her baby back!

Ellie Trout (Emily Wilson) who later had a serious relationship with Spinelli and was working in the lab at General Hospital spilled the beans to Spinelli that he was the father of Maxie’s baby, and as a result, “Lante” and “Spixie” later got into a custody battle. “Spixie” finally won out, but then when Spinelli got serious with Ellie, they moved to Portland, Oregon and Damian and Maxie now share custody of Georgie and we get to see her every once in a while. One of the first portrayers of Georgie as a baby was Kirsten Storms’ own real life daughter, Harper Rose Barash!
