General Hospital Alum Vinessa Antoine Shares Exciting News

General Hospital News: Jordan Ashford (Vinessa Antoine)General Hospital News: Jordan Ashford (Vinessa Antoine)“General Hospital” alum Vinessa Antoine is returning for another season of “Diggstown.” The prime-time series has just been renewed for season 2.

Antoine, who previously portrayed Jordan Ashford on GH, expressed her excitement upon hearing the good news. “So incredibly happy and overjoyed! Let’s go Diggstowners!!!” the actress wrote on Twitter.

Antoine plays the lead character on “Diggstown,” Marcie Diggs, a star corporate lawyer. She began reconsidering her priorities when her aunt committed suicide because of malicious prosecution. She works with a team of lawyers with their own personal demons they are trying to keep out of their practice. They try to find justice for their clients in various issues like gender bias, racism, and poverty.

General Hospital Spoilers – First Black Canadian Lead Actress

Antoine’s casting on “Diggstown” is one for the history books, as she is the first Black Canadian lead actress on a prime-time TV series in Canada. The series airs on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

“It’s about time,” Antoine said during an interview with NOW Magazine at the show’s launch last year. “We’ve needed and are craving real diversity and representation on TV, period, but particularly in Canada.

“Shows like Diggstown are going to force people to look at their own preconceived notions, stereotypes and what’s actually happening as far as police brutality and so many more things that are going on in this country.”

General Hospital Spoilers – Also Busy With Other Projects

Antoine left “General Hospital” for the opportunity to lead “Diggstown,” but she has also been busy with other projects. She appeared as a guest star on Fox’s “The Resident” and has been appearing on a recurring basis on CBS All Access’ “Interrogation.”

“Diggstown” Season 1 can be streamed on CBC Gem now. Unfortunately for Antoine’s fans in the United States, there has been on update from eOne. The network picked up the Canadian series for global distribution in September last year. Fans can only hope that Season 1 will be available before “Diggstown” Season 2 hits the airwaves in 2020.

Antoine portrayed Jordan on GH from 2014 to 2018. She is also best known for her role as Judith Winter on “Being Erica” from 2009 to 2011. She appeared in other TV series such as “Heartland,” “NCIS” and “Work in Progress.”
