‘General Hospital’ Alicia Leigh Willis Would Love To Reprise The Role Of Courtney Matthews

While the character of Courtney Matthews died on “General Hospital,” Alicia Leigh Willis has expressed an interest in reprising her role in one way or another.

“Always,” Willis told Soaps In Depth in a recent interview. “I would love to go back and work with them again. Yeah, if the opportunity ever came up, I would love that. It would be fun.”

Willis last returned to the soap in 2015 as a ghost, visiting Nikolas Cassadine (Tyler Christopher) and Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Bechtel). Willis shared that the comeback was thanks to fans voting on Facebook to bring back her character as a guest star and “General Hospital” listened to what fans were wishing for.

“And they called me and they’re like, ‘Oh, they voted for you to come back.’ And I was so excited because I got to go back and it was like a family reunion,” Willis confided.

Willis said that back then, she was really happy to return and see all the people she used to work with for many years. “It was really nice getting to give everybody such big hugs,” she said.

“I loved playing Courtney. That was such a big part of my life for such a long time. Even my family got involved. When I ended up getting it, my whole family was super thrilled because they loved everybody that I worked with over there.”

General Hospital Spoilers – Willis Is Hoping To Make A Return To Daytime

Willis played Courtney from 2001 to 2006. The character died giving birth to her son Spencer and Nikolas did not know the boy was his son. Eventually, the truth was revealed and Nik was able to get custody of Spencer.

Fans still miss Courtney to this day. Willis admitted that she auditioned for a role on another daytime soap,.Unfortunately, she was not able to book it.

“But yeah, I definitely have thrown my hat in the ring a couple of times. You never know how it is with the soaps. Everyone knows each other so it’s really nice when you go to the other soaps, you’re usually seeing people that you’ve worked with in the past. It’s pretty cool.”

Let’s hope Willis gets a new role on a daytime soap soon!
