NBC has renewed its longest-running series, “Days of Our Lives,” marking the daytime soap’s 55th season. The show has been airing on the network since 1965 and has earned several Emmy awards over the years. It aired its 13,500th episode in 2018.
NBC Entertainment’s Executive Vice President for Current Programming, Bruce Evans, commends the show’s executive producer, Ken Corday, and his team for a job well done in continuing “Days of Our Lives” in a way that “resonates with both longtime and new viewers.”
“The actors and crew have such a tremendous respect for ‘Days’ and what it means to fans. We believe that level of commitment shows through and touches our audience year after year,” Evans said, according to Deadline.
Corday, meanwhile, expressed his gratitude to NBC, as well as Sony, for their continued support. He also thanked Days’ fans who have been passionate and dedicated in following the soap over the years.
“It’s a great day in Salem! The sands in the hourglass will continue to flow for yet another year,” he said, via Variety. “Thank you for taking us through our 55th season. We can’t wait for you to see what we have in store.”

Its 53rd season saw a 4 percent increase in total viewership compared to the previous year, which demonstrates how the daytime soap still manages to retain its viewers and attract new ones, thanks in part to its multilayered storylines featuring drama, comedy, adventure, and more.
“Days of Our Lives” is co-executive produced by Greg Meng and Albert Alarr. Its head writer is Ron Carlivati. It is produced by Corday Productions, Inc. in association with Sony Pictures Television.
