Paparazzi photos of “Coronation Street” sparked rumours that the show is preparing for a Christmas disaster storyline. The set of pictures circulated online on Wednesday October 16 that showed smoke rising on the set. Plus, there were reports that a gas canister exploded outside the Underworld factory, which led fans to assume that the show might be filming disaster scenes. Will someone die during Christmas? What shocking scenes does the show have in store for its viewers?
Fortunately, an insider from “Coronation Street” cleared up the rumours and said that there was no explosion. The smoke they saw on the pictures was from a heater on set.
The show is keeping the details regarding the Christmas storyline under wraps. However, some cast members dropped hints on what viewers can expect.
Coronation Street Spoilers – Fallon Says Christmas Episode Is “Big”
Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt) hinted that fans could expect “quite a lot happening over Christmas.” She teased that here will be a “big episode on Christmas Day.” She says it’s still a secret and that she doesn’t have a clue as to what will happen to her character.
Fallon has been with “Coronation Street” as Bethany Platt for five years and she’s set to vacate her role once her contract ends in 2020. When asked if her character will have happy times before she leaves the cobbles, the actress said no.
“She’s not going to have happier moments because she starts to fall for Daniel but obviously he has a wife who is dying of cancer,” she explained.

Coronation Street Spoilers – Dramatic Christmas Storyline, Says McAlpine
Jennie McAlpine (Fiz Stape) and Sally Ann Matthews (Jenny Connor) also described the storyline as “dramatic.”
“It’s not all mistletoe and jingle bells. I can’t say if anyone dies,” McAlpine said. McAlpine has read the script for Christmas Eve and hinted that she’s not sure if she’s getting a turkey this year. But she guaranteed that her character is going to be quite busy.
Meanwhile, Matthews revealed that she’s reviewed the scripts. “It’s big and edge-of-your-seat stuff. It’s not just one story, either,” Matthews added. She said it’ll start off like the usual feelgood Christmas episode but the following scenes are “beyond dramatic.” She advised viewers not to have too much turkey and eggnog so they’ll still be awake to watch the episode.
Needless to say, Coronation Street fans will have to tune in to the ITV network to find out what will happen next!
