Aidan’s suicide and the aftermath in “Coronation Street” won the best single episode.

The other awards that “EastEnders” won included the Best Female Dramatic Performance category, which was awarded to Gillian Wright as Jean Slater, and the Best On-Screen Partnership, which was given to Roger Griffiths and Kara-Lea Fernandez, who also won the Best Young Actor award. Gail’s monologue in “Coronation Street” won the Scene of the Year award and Sue Nicholls was awarded the Outstanding Achievement.

Who Won Best Storyline?

Overall, “Coronation Street” dominated the night with Shayne Ward’s suicide storyline earning several awards. The sudser nabbed a total of five awards and Ward went up to the stage twice for the Best Storyline and Best Single Episode awards. Ward, who was accompanied by Sally-Ann Matthews, delivered a moving speech where he encouraged men to talk about their mental health.

Ward said, “What can I say other than thank you so much. I was not expecting this, in fact, I wasn’t even meant to be coming here tonight. So thank you to the Coronation Street team for ringing me and asking me. It’s amazing. As we always say it’s a collective, it is never a solo story. It was told with so much heart. We told it with so much truth. The impact that suicide has, it’s an ongoing thing and us guys don’t talk enough. We say it all the time, ‘It’s a little bit of banter’.”

Meanwhile, “Hollyoaks” lagged behind “Coronation Street” with four awards. As always, more detailed Spoilers and Breaking news will appear here on Soap Opera Spy!
