A daytime television star has just shared some very personal news with his fans. All My Children alum Cameron Mathison (Ryan) has just revealed that he has been diagnosed with kidney cancer. Here’s what he has to say.
Cameron Mathison’s Cancer Diagnosis
Cameron, who is now a host on the popular Hallmark daytime television talk show Home and Away, revealed to his Instagram followers that he has been diagnosed with kidney cancer. And while this will most definitely be a challenging time for him and his family, the television personality says that so far he’s gotten plenty of support and encouragement from his closest friends and of course his many fans from all over the world.
Sharing a photo of him sitting beside his wife Vanessa Arevalo and their two children Lucas and Leila, he said that while this was a difficult post to write, he wants to share his journey and hopefully his journey with his fans as well.
A Difficult Journey Ahead
He began the post by writing: “About a month ago, I had an MRI for some gut issues I’ve been having, and during that MRI they found a tumor on my right kidney. It’s consistent with Renal Cell Carcinoma … or kidney cancer. The good news is that it hasn’t spread to any other organs. They say my healthy lifestyle and diet has no doubt helped keep it from growing and spreading to other areas, as doctors think it’s been growing in me for minimum 10 years.
Cameron also went on to thank his wife and his children for being so supportive during this difficult time in their family’s life. He continued, “I am extremely lucky that we found it early. My [wife] Vanessa, [kids] Lucas and Leila have been absolutely amazing with their love and support… as have my mom, dad, brother, and everyone at Home and Family, Hallmark, and ET. My surgery is scheduled on September 12th, I was hoping to receive positive thoughts, prayers, or whatever you feel comfortable with, on 9/12 (my surgery is at 1 pm PST) .” He concluded, “Feeling very grateful and optimistic!!”
