Devon (Bryton James) thought he had himself under control on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But the love of Hilary’s (Mishael Morgan) life does not, as Cane (Daniel Goddard) soon learns.
Just prior to the Juliet (Laur Allen) storyline, Y&R teased Cane becoming addicted to pills due to the aftereffects of surgery. Viewers weren’t told why that plot path was shelved, but they were subsequently given another angle to view. Now, playing off Mr. Ashby’s own painkiller pass, Devon will have his own life issues addressed.
Y&R Spoilers – Devon Having Issue Dealing With Grief
The natural grief process has been lightly touched since the summer when Hilary tragically died as the result of injuries suffered in that skillfully presented car accident scene. Devon disappeared for a while after he was able to deal with his anger toward Lily (Christel Khalil). Mr. Hamilton seemed to be making progress, but he wasn’t.

Nate’s (Brooks Darnell) arrival in Genoa City helped to put another pair of eyes on Neil’s (Kristoff St. John) son, as Mr. Winters is said to have moved to Lakewood to be near Lily. While Dr. Hastings caught Devon in a lie last week, he doesn’t prove to be the protector who exposes the apparent coming abuse arc.

The Young and The Restless Spoilers – Devon Has Been Partying
Devon was shown drinking in the middle of the day last week, while also throwing a party at the once ‘Hevon’ penthouse. That was truly out of character and seemed to be leading toward further confrontations with Nate. While those will play out, a different man will take on Devon first.
Y&R fans were wondering what Cane was going to do now that Khalil voluntarily dropped to recurring status. That answer is now forthcoming, as Devon’s often-times adversarial brother-in-law will prove to be the person who discovers a bag of pills.
James has long proven to be a solid cast member. The hint at an addiction storyline would likely prove to be deeply dramatic if Devon veers in that pained direction.
An interesting and, as noted, unexplored script point from Cane’s past is about to be mined. Hopefully, he is able to prevent Devon from crashing. Hilary will be disappointed in Heaven if her widow defies good advice and makes ongoing reckless choices.
