When General Hospital (GH) Jason (Steve Burton) woke up from his coma after the car accident, he remembered nothing of his former life. Jason had people pulling him in every direction trying to make him be the boy he once was. Since Jason had no memory of these people, he rebelled, and that changed everything.
Keisha Wanted The Man She Loved
Jason’s girlfriend Keisha (Senait Ashenafi) wanted him to love her like he used to before the accident. Jason had no memory of Keisha, no love for Keisha, and not tolerance of her pushing him to remember. Keisha did not understand Jason’s condition, nor did she want to try.
The more Jason rejected her, the harder she pushed until Jason had to break her heart to get her to leave him alone. Of course, A.J. took advantage of this and tried to keep Keisha for himself. In the end, Keisha didn’t end up with either of them.
Edward Tried To Force Jason To Change
Edward (David Lewis) didn’t want to hear about Jason’s brain damage. Instead, Edward wanted to demand Jason act a certain way and get that. Edward especially pushed matters when it came to Lila. (Anna Lee) Jason didn’t want any part of this family, but Edward defended Lila and often demanded Jason apologize to her. Eventually, Jason and Edward formed a bond, but it would take years to get along
Alan And Monica Pushed To No End
Alan (Stuart Damon) and Monica (Leslie Charleson) were not willing to accept that the son they loved was gone. Both Alan and Monica tried to force Jason to be the person he used to be. Monica seemed almost furious that Jason wanted nothing to do with her. Alan didn’t like Jason’s change in attitude. Monica and Alan treated Jason like he was mentally challenged instead of a survivor.
Jason wasn’t allowed to drive. The family even took Jason’s car keys from him. Jason wasn’t allowed to go out alone to explore the town. When the family went to Luke’s (Anthony Geary) club, Jason wanted to leave, and Alan tried to force him to let him arrange transportation. Alan tried to force Jason to be an invalid so he could have control. After Jason bought his first motorcycle, Jason was left without money as well.
Sonny Befriended Jason
Sonny (Maurice Benard) became Jason’s friend and allowed Jason to be himself. Jason was determined to make a life for himself, and he needed a job to do so. Sonny helped Jason to find work and eventually Jason began working for Sonny. Sonny and Jason formed an everlasting bond that holds true still today.

New Life, New Birthday
Jason Morgan did not want to be tied to Jason Quartermaine at all. Jason changed his birthday to the day he woke up a new person. Jason changed his name from Jason Quartermaine to Jason Morgan, and his life began anew. Jason Morgan cut all ties with Jason Quartermaine and most of the Quartermaine family. This treatment is why Jason only acknowledges his Jason Morgan Birthday.
