Good Reasons Soap Stars Quit – Fans Need To Respect Actors’ Choices, Not Petition!

Everyone has their favorite stars on any television program the watch, however, do fans have the right to try to make actors stay on a show by petitioning them to do so?

When The Network Lets An Actor Go Then A Petition Makes Sense

If it’s the network’s decision then fans have a right to object because we feel, as fans that our favorites are being treated unfairly. Case in point being when Steve Burton left General Hospital. Fans had a right to complain because ABC could have chosen to work with a GH vet in order to keep him on the show.

The same can be said for Stephen Nichols. Days viewers love Patch and don’t want to see him go. Patch has been a part of Days since 1985, it’s a shame to see a Days vet only offered 1 day of work a week and fans should protest to that. However, in some instances, a petition is not right.

When The Actor Has A Better Offer

Who are we to stop an actor from taking a better job or a better paying job than daytime tv gives them? There is nothing wrong with tweeting an actor to let them know you love them and will miss them but it is not right to try and petition an actor to stay in a job just because we want them there.

Frankly, it is very selfish and self-centered for fans to attempt to pressure an actor into changing his or her mind about their work. Usually, when an actor leaves a job it is not just money based, there is something more to the story. In the case of Christopher Sean, I personally believe that he is far underused on Days of Our Lives and should have better storylines.

Ever since he came to town Paul has been tangled up with Sonny and Will and not had much more of a story. Occasionally he gets to work with John on a case but there is so much more that could have been done with Paul, including bringing on a new love interest for him.

Paul fit in nicely with John’s family and it was nice for Brady to have an actual brother, even if he was just his half-brother. If NBC refuses to utilize his talents, Christopher Sean should do just what he is doing and take his talent where it will be utilized.
