The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Victor’s Strategy Was Sound – Victoria and Jack’s Insecurity Issues Are the Problem

Victor (Eric Braeden) believed that hiring Ashley (Eileen Davidson) was wise on ‘The Young and the Restless’. His instincts were right and his management style is steeped in history. But the ‘Moustache’ didn’t anticipate Vickie’s (Amelia Heinle) subsequent betrayal, which has created trouble at Newman Enterprises.

Creating a team of rivals is something Abraham Lincoln did during his presidential administration. A similar method was recently invoked by Victor, as it often has been in the past. He attempted to make his top two executives compete against each other in a spirited way.

Vickie rejected her father’s authority. So she chose to collaborate with Jack (Peter Bergman). Together they developed a scheme where Ashley would be framed for passing confidential Newman information to her brother.

‘Vack’ proceeded to meet in public places, which was a sign of their amateur status. Vickie gave Jack documents that were watermarked with Ashley’s name at Chancellor Park’s outdoor cafe.

This non-dynamic duo also sat aside of each other at the Genoa City Athletic Club and discussed their progress, which Ashley happened to see. Jack played that scene off when questioned by his sister, but won’t be able to do so when all is soon revealed.

Some may question Victor’s methods upon reflection, based upon their own personality. But his attempt to use the survival of the fittest template within his business isn’t, arguably, the problem. Nor was Ashley’s acceptance of Victor’s offer to join Jabot’s rival.

Instead, Vickie’s insecurity, as rightly tagged by J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) and Jack’s, well, thin-skinned personality, were and are the issues to be overcome. How Victor and Ashley respond will help to determine the immediate future of both companies.

Vickie believes she’s entitled to her dad’s throne, which is also why she’s treated her sister Abby (Melissa Ordway) badly. Jack believes that Ashley is endangered merely be being around Victor. He also doesn’t want Newman Enterprises to use his sister’s talent to push Jabot under, eventually. Yes,
