The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Victor and Nick Clash – Foolish Rivalry Hurts Both Newman’s

Why can’t Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) settle their differences on ‘The Young and the Restless’? At this point it would be best for them and Y&R’s audience if these Newman men came to a resolution and began to get along.

The believability of the most recent quarrel between Victor and Nick is in question. Nick actually didn’t have much of a beef with his father when Victor simply asked to see Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen), yet he went off on another bratty rant anyway.

It must be said that Victor did poke the bear by evoking Christian’s paternity, believing that Nick didn’t already know that seeming fact. However, in light of Victor’s serious and ongoing health issues, Nick could have easily been written the other way, or at least to a more controlled corner.

Most people, when they are truly happy, as Nick appeared to be, aren’t looking to pull out old grudges, or seek confrontations with individuals who they’ve been prone to fight with. But Nick has returned to the form he’s so often accused his father of having.

On a somewhat encouraging note, this father and son tandem did agree to coordinate their efforts to find J.T. Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill).

That specific character’s cowardly actions served to change Nick’s mind about his dad just prior to the start of summer. J.T.’s seeming return might have the power to clear both Newman men’s minds again as well.

Yes, Victor cruelly sought and has obtained custody of Adam’s (Justin Hartley) son, Christian. Though that legal decision is only temporary.

Yes, Nick’s feelings about Victor’s over-involvement in his life, the lives of his loved ones, and others have often been justified. But was a revert really needed in order to create this storyline?

Benefit of the doubt is part of being a soap fan. So, various viewers have been giving Y&R a chance to fully play out whatever this arc becomes before making a final decision. Hopefully a sense of peace and a productive climax is coming during what has quickly become a fierce family battle.
