The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Victoria Teams Up With Ashley – Victor’s Health Causes Strategic Alliance

Vickie (Amelia Heinle) initially wanted to oust Ashley (Eileen Davidson) from Newman Enterprises on ‘The Young and the Restless’. But conspiring with Jack (Peter Bergman) Abbott caused Victor (Eric Braeden) to force a choice on his daughter, accept a demotion or be ousted herself. Now, months later, Victoria has chosen to team up with Ashley, which is very intriguing.

All alliances within the walls of this corporate cauldron can be fleeting. But this one should prove to be helpful at a time when Victor appears increasingly frail. Combine that with Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) decision to not rejoin the family fold and all hands are needed on deck so that a Captain Bligh mutiny reference can’t be told.

As Y&R fans know, Vickie is very much like her father. So the strategic alliance she’s seeking with Ashley also plays to the Abby (Melissa Ordway) issue.

Vickie’s sister has been a real go-getter in the recent past. She, far more than any of Victor’s other children, has done the most for the company. While Abby wasn’t present when it happened, Victor told Nick that he didn’t see his younger daughter as being his eventual choice to lead the company. That’s a spot that Vickie still wants. So her current move also serves to further cement Abby in the pecking order.

The bet appears to be, “Show dad that I will do whatever it takes to bolster Newman.” While Victor has said that it’s possible Ashley eventually takes over for him, longtime observers of ‘Moustache’ know that his preference has always been for one of his offspring, be it a child, or grandchild, to assume the helm.

Considering Victor’s obvious struggle in recovering from the mini-stroke he suffered after being attacked by J.T. (Thad Luckinbill), it’s likely that a person will lead Newman when (not if) the ‘Black Knight’ is out of commission. Although a two-person tag team might be what Victor has written into the contingency plans.
