Yes, Thad Luckinbill (who most recently played J.T.) is back on ‘The Young and the Restless’. Whether he’s still embodying that character remains to be seen.
As has been reported on Soap Opera Spy, Executive Producer and Head Writer Mal Young confirmed via Soap Opera Digest that Luckinbill has been filming on-set.
Devoted viewers, along with Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), Sharon (Sharon Case), Phyllis (Gina Tognoni), and, of course, Vickie (Amelia Heinle) were all recently questioning how this dead man could possibly be back. A previous false sighting revealed a homeless man who merely resembled J.T. from afar. But a more recent Newman Enterprises surveillance screen capture showed a man in a hoodie who appeared to be a facial match.
Sharon and Nikki spotted that same person outside the cottage on the Newman Ranch within the last few days. A closeup shot then showed an actor who almost certainly had to be Thad Luckinbill. The only other legitimate possibility was that Thad’s real life brother, Trent Luckinbill, had returned to the show. Trent appeared in a one-off, uncredited role in 2005.
Young’s confirmation that Thad Luckinbill has returned to the show now ignites a range of possible storylines.
It seemed impossible that any human being could have lived through what Mr. Hellstrom seemingly endured. He was rendered unconscious after Nikki conked him on the back of his head. He appeared to have no pulse and was then wrapped in a carpet, put in a vehicle, and transported to Chancellor Park, where Nikki knew an open plot of land was available.

The aptly named coverup crew then carried J.T.’s rugged body to the seeming center of what was meant to be Katherine’s (Jeanne Cooper) place of honor in Genoa City.
J.T. was dumped into what became a shallow grave. Vickie was the first to shovel dirt on top of him. There were many square feet of ground on top of Luckinbill’s persona by the time that four-lady contingent was finished.
So how could anyone have lived through that scenario? Some seeming soapy explanation is now about to be revealed on Y&R.
