The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Tessa Looks Guilty – Mariah Is Hurt

If Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) isn’t the blackmailer on ‘The Young and the Restless’, then the writing staff is surely shading her guilty. Mariah (Camryn Grimes) moved home to Sharon (Sharon Case) even without knowing what the audience does. The amount of secretly stored cash Tessa is concealing matches the number the coverup crew was asked to pay out by a then-anonymous source.

It would make some sense to reveal Tessa as the schemer. Unless something incredible is presented, J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) isn’t still alive and his evil twin isn’t seeking revenge. A much simpler and believable storyline would show Tessa in flashback form overhearing discussions held by the faux charity group at Crimson Lights and manipulating them from that point on.

Choosing to believe that Tessa is the blackmailer, or Y&R actually making her that could, repeat could, also mean that her story about Crystal (Morgan Obenreder) is true. That tale seemed thin when told to Mariah last summer, but is plausible based on Crystal’s forced link to human trafficking figures.

It’s fair to point out that if Tessa has been keeping a deep secret she wouldn’t have been eager to have Mariah move into her apartment, where said money stash was being kept. Storing an exorbitant amount of cash in a sofa bed mattress also would have been felt when lied upon, right?

While it doesn’t feel this way now, the coverup crew could be relieved if Tessa is the potential blackmailer. Mariah could soon learn this information, pass it along to her mom, who would in turn tell Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), Vickie (Amelia Heinle), and Phyllis (Gina Tognoni). That chiller would be solved and the money could be returned.

Following the plotted path, it stands to reason that Tessa could have known where J.T. was buried and moved his body as part of the money game. That too would calm the coverup crew and probably given them another respite from Rey’s (Jordi Vilasuso) pursuit.

However, Mariah is truly being taken advantage of by Tessa no matter what proves true. That personal issue won’t be easily resolved.
