The Young and the Restless (YR) Spoilers: Summer Believes Plan Is Working – Nick Remains Hidden

Summer (Hunter King) has no idea that her parents have grown closer on ‘The Young and the Restless’. She believes that Jack (Peter Bergman) is the man Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) is reconnecting with.

‘Silly’ began as a rash decision. Summer thought that she would personally distract Billy (Jason Thompson) and then throw him off course by offering him the gambling drug. The plan was to create friction with Phyllis, with the intention of ending ‘Philly’ and reforming ‘Phack’. Summer’s plan hasn’t flowed perfectly, it has taken root.

Phyllis did learn about Billy’s gambling. While this couple thinks they’re on-track, ‘Philly’ is in imminent peril of devolution. All would likely be over the moment Billy and Phyllis somehow learn what’s happened behind each other’s backs.

It’s not that Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Phyllis have been enemies in more recent times, but they surely weren’t interested in each other romantically until this summer. Their daughter isn’t like most children, who want to see their divorced parents reunite. Instead, Summer wanted her mom to reunite with Jack.

Summer has long felt that Phyllis discarded him for no reason and is best-paired with Bergman’s character. But she didn’t resort to the devious and disruptive tactics she’s using until this year because Y&R hadn’t previously written King’s alter ego in this dark direction.

Billy has continually told Summer to stop bothering him, but she won’t relent. She’s recently told Kyle (Michael Mealor), who’s become wise to Summer’s ‘Silly’ plan, that her intentions are a non-starter.

Y&R’s re-imagining of Summer, upon King’s hiatus from filming the night time sitcom ‘Life in Pieces’, has taken ‘Phick’s’ formerly kind daughter in a fully self-centered direction. The result is allowing this specific character to spurn the transformation of other Genoa City personalities.

Summer is the plot vehicle that’s being driven, as may have been implied by her fast ride back into town in the sports car she stole from her boyfriend, Pax. This character’s actions are remixing various lives, exactly as Y&R intended.
